I am considering a trip to Alaska to shoot Bears feeding around Fish Creek and just was curious if anyone here has been there and if so, what you thought about it.

Here is some info about the area I am referring to...

Thanks for your input!

Patrick,
went to Alaska a couple of summers ago. Spent the money to float plane and camp at Brooks Falls, Alaska. One of the most wonderful experiences of my life. I don't believe you are going to find a better place in the world to photo bears in their environment. I only spent 24 hours there, but you can check out the photos I took at the following web address:

I highly recommend it. My regular email address is ed823@bellsouth.net if you have any more questions.

Patrick,
I've been to Fish Creek in Hyder, Alaska and Brooks Falls in Katmai NP. Katmai is way better for bears, both for cleaner backgrounds and qty of bears. That said, Fish Creek is very accessible and there are good opportunities to be had not only for bears but glacier photography only ~12 miles east from the viewing deck also accessible by car. I've talked with some photogs who got skunked at Fish Creek but they only planned for a day or two visit. I was there for 4 days and saw bears every day, both grizzly and black, plus one wolf.
It can be more crowded at Fish Creek because of the accessibility.
You can see some photos taken at both places on my website: www.freshairphotos.com in the mammals gallery.
