most amazing dolphin appearance....

hi all,

this is not really a photo to be critiqued as it is a still i captured from my video equipment, so obviously grainy and soft etc.

just a share the moment thing. after i posted the dolphin love image last week, and musing on how fotunate i am to have seen such a thing, the next day i was just ending a dive on the thistlegorm wreck when i noticed a large shadow in the corner of my eye. there were only five divers there and were were just heading towards the mooring line to make our way back to the boat. another five minutes and we'd have missed it. anyway, the shadow turned out to be a dolphin, and on swimming towards it, expecting it to rush of, i noticed yet more shadows coming our way, and soon about 20 of them were all around us. not rushing, or nervous like we might expect, just lazily examining us. i've tried diving with dolphins once before in ecuador and they were gone in a flash. some say they don't like the bubbles given off by open circuit equipment as their main enemy the killer whale uses bubble netting to surround them. not sure if there are any killer whales in the red sea, or whether it was the fact that they were approaching us, not the other way around that meant they were not afraid. anyway, an altogether amazing experience, and one that left me in a dreamlike state for a day or so. our guide had made around 3000 dives in the red sea and this was the first time he had seen such a thing.

anyway, heres a still form the video i took. i got about 5 minutes in all, and i shall post some of it on my film footage site eyemocean.com when i get round to it. hope you like.
