I got the opportunity to photograph a Dormouse this week and it was a great experience to see this endearing mammal at close quarters. To photograph this beautiful mammal in the wild is very difficult if not impossible. I used a large glass tank to photograph the dormouse and just added props to make it look natural. This shot of a sleeping dormouse was taken while the handler was checking the boxes to find one which had not hibernated. I added the autumn leaves to add a bit of colour as their nests are not very photogenic. The acorn was added to give an idea of size. It won't be to everyones taste but I like it and it would probably do well commercially.
Canon EOS 1D MkII, 180mm Lens, Tripod, F11, 1/4, ISO Rating 200.
Lovely autumn image-do you need a license to photograph these cuties?

Super shot Danny
Cute and appealing pose and I think your use of the other leaves and the acorn adds interest and good complimentary colours. Maybe not a 100% natural shot, but I think it is an excellent composition and deserves to sell well.
I like it
cheers

Hello Dave
The people I was with had special licenses which you need to have to handle them or disturb them but I didn't touch them just took pictures.
Hello Sean
Yes I know you would never find a Dormouse like this, their nests are made of dead material and they are burried deep inside never on the top like this but I have always liked shots like this and remember seeing an image by George McCarthy a few years ago and loved it. So what the hell.
