Taken yesterday morning just as the fog lifted. My attention had been on other deer in the trees when this chap snuck up behind me. I only managed a couple of frames before he was chased off by a larger male. (first image posted on UKNP)

Hello Dave
Let me be the first to congratulate you on a very nice first post. Was the fast shutter and shallow DOF deliberate? Whatever, the head is nice and sharp and it works well, but maybe a little more DOF for me.
Best wishes
Phil

Thanks Phil, no it wasn't. I had been concentrating on a very active male running about in shadow under the trees when I herd a grunt behind me. I swung round and clicked. With practice I hope to get quicker.

Lovely shot! There was a lovely foggy morning friday just gone and my first thought was of Richmond and Bushy Park and the deer population. Hopefully I'll be able to get myself there for the next foggy day and get some nice images such as this. Well done

Hi Dave
Firstly, welcome to the forum
A nice atmospheric post to begin within, good colours and tones. The deer is positioned well in the frame, my only nit is the image a bit static and lacks overall impact. The stag could have helped out here by bellowing nicely as this point.
Nice first post (sure I know that youngster, he tries to push in all the time and is chased off a lot), really nice feel to this image and I like your low viewpoint.
