Ptarmigan
Captured this ptarmigan on Guanella Pass today. Perfect day up there. Warm and no wind at all.

Wonderful capture Dan! Great job with the exposure and the whites. The background really conveys the extreme enviornment that these guys live in. Robbie

Thanks for all the compliments. I like to catch these guys before they turn completely white. They seem to stand out a little more against a white background.

Beautiful shot, I agree they are much better during the change to all-white. I have fall and winter photos of them, and I also prefer the fall plumage variations. How many did you see?

Dan, you are just annoying me now! This shot is stunning. I have come back to it a number of times, and even called my girlfriend over to see it. Just wonderful! :toast:

You consistently post high-quality wildlife shots, Dan. But this one tops them all, imo. The detail around the eye pulls me right in to make eye contact with the ptarmigan - very powerful and exceptional.
