This morning at Goat Rocks
Peggy and I awoke to snow at the Goat Rocks this morning. Rain was in the forecast but snow was a possibility so we brought all our packs and cooking gear into the tent's vestibule for the night.
I have one of those great little JetBoil stoves so I was able to make us coffee and oatmeal with it just outside the tent without ever having to leave my sleeping bag (the thing is so efficient that it gives off very little heat, it's no big deal to have it only an inch or two away from a nylon tent or sleeping bag.)
I got this idea for the photo and said to Peggy, "Hey, here's a photo only a geek photo guy would think of taking". I set my tripod up at the end of the tent and attached my camera with my 12-24mm set at 12 on it. I set the timer and Volia!
It was wonderful hiking out in the snow and then the (heavy) rain. We had only four miles to hike so it was no big deal. The only real bummer of the trip was that we didn't take enough Scotch!

It sounds like it was a nice outdoor adventure, and you captured a nice portait as well. Cheers! :toast:

It was pretty funny, some people started hiking after we did and were expecting to hike the 13.5 miles in one day. We had two and a half days planned!

Sounds like fun. Wasn't there a Goat Rocks trip in the planning...? I have one of those Jetboils....man they are the best most efficient stove I've ever used.
