Had a few hours in Richmond Park yesterday morning.
Canon 1DMkII + 300mm f2.8 IS iso 500 1/1000 at f3.5 (iso higher than I would have liked but only moments before photographing in the woodland and no time or thought to reset)

Nice action shot. I'd play about with the white balance to warm the image, it has a cool feel to it as it is.

Hope you don't mind Dave but I had a play around with it. Not sure how to include a picture in here but I pasted them side by side. See what you think, though I suppose monitors can vary a good deal and mine's not calibrated.

Hi John
For some reason can't follow your link but I can appreciate what you are saying and you are probably right. That said the light was cold and this is pretty much as I saw him!

A lovely shot David. I don't know about the hair style though!
Hi David a nice image it's not very often you see the image left with its original white balance settings left on the coolside I think it adds to the image giving it a very early morning look, I still prefer to use a 81a warmup filter if I want a slightly warmer colour rendition.

Hi David
A super stag image, great action and eye contact which makes this shot really grab your attention.
I thought the colour balance looked fine on my monitor, I looked at John's version and I think he has overcooked the warm effect. However I think John's suggestion might be worth exploring and tweaking the white balance slightly in the RAW conversion might improve the colours (but to be honest it looks perfectly ok as is).
Only minor nit with this shot is I find some of the highlights in the background slightly distracting (right hand side above the antlers). However I am being very picky here on what is a top notch shot of the red deer stag. Well done, worth getting out of bed early for.
cheers

Wonderful shot with great impact David. Looks ok to me.
Cant realy see the need for change.
Hi David,
You must be pleased with this one.The roar alone would be good, but the antlers covered in vegetation is the icing on the cake.
I sometimes like a warm feel to images myself, but the in this instance I find the cooler tones very refreshing and very natural.
I was there myself on Saturday morning and the light was pretty much the same then which made life a little tricky but has provided some nice atmosphere in some of the shots.

It don't appear to have suffered because of the ISO, is this FF?
