First of all it was fun to meet Preston ( who came up t met me) up at Lee Vining on Friday. I lived in No Cal for 10 years ( 1990-2000) and am planning on relocating back to the Pacific NW within the next year. I am looking forward to getting back to the west. I wish I could have met some of you who were at the "Fun Weekend" but I had to stay up in around Mono Lake & Bodie with my workshop ( www.jackgrahamphoto.com)
We shot Bodie on Friday to try and avoid the Saturday crowds. We know the weather was changing, getting colder as he day progressed. About 3;30 it got really dark & windy and then MAGIC! SNOW came in about 4 15 or so. I am told this happens about once every decade this early in the year. at Bodie bit it was really fantastic.
It really made the weekend!

That interesting. Preston, RW, and I were together Thursday evening by the pyro's campfire. ;) Then Friday afternoon I drove north to slopes north of Conway Summit and had a clear view of the Bodie hills. Huge snow thunderstorms developed that started at the crest but by late afternoon had blown east to Mono Lake, Bodie Hills, and the Patterson Range. I've got a shot of those hills late afternoon in the background after the storm passed that shows that area all white. Storm did not leave much snow where I camped at but where it did pass over directly was pretty white including all the crest peaks. Hope you two managed to capture something special. ...David

That's awesome. I've only seen a few Bodie shots in this weather.

We had some wonderful weather/ light. Because I have 2 faff foliage workshops here in Ohio this month I haven had the time to look at all I shot over at Bodie as well as the other areas in the Easter Sierra. . But we did get back to Bodie early Sat Am, before the touriste messed up the dustin of snow we got, and it was great. I guess Bodie doesn't get snow this early too ofter. We were lucky. I am also interested to se ethese images in B & W.

I like the vertical better as it feels more cold than the latter. I'm envious.
