Maybe this has been reported and I missed it, but it appears that full size carry on (56cm x 45cm x 25cm) is now permitted at UK airports URL. I usually travel with a RoadRunner and a Stealth 650 as a "laptop" bag.

Yes, I've just come back from a recce in France and had no probs. Interestingly, Easyjet no longer have weight restrictions WRT cabin baggage so the camera bag's no longer an issue. However, Ryanair still have a miserly 10Kg so you have to wear all your gear in a photo vest till you get past check-in.

i've just travelled from egypt via london to ecuador. check in in egypt was a joke and the scales weren't even turned on and we freely walked on with whatever we liked. (still got xrayed though)...heathrow, size limits seem to be lifted but still very strict on ONE bag only. no chance in arguing that one, the airline were very understanding (KLM) and even let me try my luck with the security line up but no chance at all there.

we did lose one bag, out of nine, and it happened to be my wifes so i was very secretly happy it wasn't one of mine, which we managed to collect today (four days later).

Went for a mini break to Holland last week, flying Newcastle to Schiphol. To be honest, security was pretty relaxed (thorough, but not strict). I took my mini-trekker on no problems, along with a carrier bag. My girlfriend also took on a micro-trekker and her handbag. So they were pretty relaxed about numbers of bags. We were also flying with KLM, and the flight was quite empty (only around 12 passengers on a 100 seater plane), so maybe that played a part in their relaxed attitude to our baggage limits.

Security at Schiphol even let me carry on my cigarette lighter that was in my pocket (and which I had forgotten to remove beforehand). "I trust you" said the burly Dutchman with the gun on his belt.
