Hello all,

Don't normally post here, but I've been told you guys are an excellent source of information. I'll be in Chapel Hill NC through this Saturday evening. Any recommendations for areas to hit within easy driving distance? Looking for 'scapes, fall leaves, and river scenes. I will be shooting with a 4x5, color trannies and B&W negs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Peter Mahoney

Peter,

The foliage along Jordan lake is coming along nicely.

Weymouth woods is an hour drive in Southern Pines and always worth seeing.

Duke Forest is ten minutes north of Chapel Hill and there are some nice scenes along New Hope Creek in the Korstian division.

Eno River state park should be looking pretty good based on comparable areas.

Best of luck!

Matthew-

Thanks for the advice! Checked out Eno this morning and things looked good, although still a bit early I think. Beautiful nonetheless. Wish I had an opportunity to head west, but unfortunately time doesn't permit.
Thanks again,
Peter

Glad you got to see Eno. There are definitely some scenes at peak at Jordan Lake, especially along the northeast shore. That's 30 minutes from downtown Chapel Hill. You can drive across 64 and along the roads that border the lake.
