It is expensive alright. any owners here? Anything to say?
(Printing Mastery Workkshop DVD).
I may need to print about 15 images for a possible group exhibition. I'm happy with what am getting with Epson2100+Luster/Premium/Hahnenühle papers, but I believe in the scope of improvement.

Grand larceny in my opinion .
I considered getting it too but the price is way over the top
You could get several high qaulity books on the subject for the same price.

If there are any who have purchased it I would be interested to see if they thought it was good value in retrospect.

Lets see if anybody write about experience.

Okay, I don't own it either because I already spent the equivalent on attending a printing seminar by Mr. Briot and a couple others, but there have been some threads on the luminous-landscape.com forum with posts by owners. I've yet to see any negative feedback from someone who spent the money. But maybe thats because they already spent the money

I agree it's a ridiculous price, And for those of us who already know most of this it is surely not worth it for learning a few new tricks. For a complete novice it might be a good course.

Seems like he could sell hundreds of them at $200 each but not this price.

I can't speak for what's on the DVD because I haven't seen it nor have I seen Briot's actual photographs; just online jpegs. I do know that Alain Briot is a master of self promotion and those types always make me suspicious. Charles Cramer, alone and with Bill Atkinson teaches a number of digital printing classes each year and I respect those two much more than I do Briot. Perhaps you can combine a photography trip to the US with one of their classes.

In my opinion, a hands-on class with personal attention from the instructor(s) will pay greater dividends in terms of learning outcomes than any canned media, especially if one is looking to make major changes in their workflow or are learning new skills. Secondarily, the contacts you make in the class will always be a resource for knowledge and friendship..

A DVD, or other media is a nice adjunct to refresh one's memory of the finer points taught in the class.

Prashan, you might want to consider Steinulleller's updated E-book:

If it doesn't teach you anything new, at least you've only lost $40.

Briot claims it took him a year to create his DVD and it replaces attending his workshop, therefore the price is justified - besides you save travel expenses.
I agree with Preston, a multiday, hands-on workshop where you can work on one of your own prints can command this price. But an instructional DVD !?!, that stretches my imagination. I'd love to know how many of these he sells!

Now this is exactly why I love NPN.
I was actually not at all thinking of giving away this much money for a DVD. However, asking an opinion never hurts. Was wondering if anybody has made positive experience.
Dan, am definitely interested in a workshop with GuyTal and people like charles cramer. :wavey:
Thank you Preston and Bill.

Surely, there is a misplaced decimal point.

While I certainly enjoy and respect Alain's body of work I am finding his price for this DVD "stunning" to say the least...
