thanks for the walkabout today :)

The weather wasn't brilliant but it didn't rain so no major complaints lol. This pair of deer were practising for along time so I took the opportunity to play a bit and try to get some head shots with the antlers engaged. Sometimes experiments fail :frown: but there is always next time with some decent light :)

Image taken with a 1D MkII N, 600mm f4 IS USM prime plus EFx1.4TC. System sat on a Gitzo 1348 (lovely piece of carbon) and a Manfrotto 393 head.
Low light meant 640iso 1/100sec@f8 which hasn't done any favours to the subject detail. Processed in Capture One Pro and CS2

Cropped from left and right, leaving an image size of 2000x2000.

Great bit of action. I'm sure you could pull some more natural colour out of this in Photoshop using a LAB colour adjustment.

I agree with Phil, needs the colours pulling through in PS. O/wise a great action shot

Hello Kev

It was a pleasure meeting you and I am glad you came away with some nice images. Great idea to go in this tight, really works. These guys were at it a long time so that was a bonus, it was shame the light didn't get better as predicted by the weathermen :frown: never trust a forecast.

Despite the weather this is an eye catcher Kevin  I love the eyes of the deer staring at each other

Hi Kevin,
The eye to eye look and tight square composition works great.
I'd also prefer just a little more warmth and/or colour added to the image and perhaps a small increase in contrast.
