(yet) another Richmond Park Red!
Lots of them cropping up at the moment

I went to meet a friend in Richmond the other day and knew I'd have an hour of spare time before hand so I popped in to the park to kill some time. I wasn't too hopeful as it kept raining but after a quick drive round I noticed one Stag near the hill top carpark. I parked up and got out by by the time I had got there he was gone so I wondered down the hill to look around. This chap was hidding in amongst the tree's at the bottom of the hill and was kind enough to stand watching me for 5 minutes or so before getting bored and walking off. It was a very damp overcast day so I've warmed it up a little. I was going to crop it slightly tighter but once I did I prefered the space and feeling of freedom in this full frame version, although thats going to be a matter of personal taste I know :)

D200, 200-400 at 400mm (VR on), 1/80 second at f4, ISO200, Monopod.

Composition is fine and I wouldn't be tempted to crop much more but the light has beaten you on this occasion I feel.

This just goes to show how subjective and personal photography is. I do prefer your full frame as any tighter wouldn't work for me. Also, John doesn't like the light but I prefer shots from overcast days as they bring out the detail more and are more uniform. I think this is a very good shot all round.

Hi Richerd,
Looks like you've got your colour balance issues under control.

I like your shot and feel the composition works very well without any additional cropping.
A fine portrait.

Yep CB probs all sorted now (finally!)

Thanks for the comments everyone. Rob, I also like the light an overcast day can produce. Sure it would be nice to get a lovely warm light in a shot but hey, its autumn now and the fact is over cast days are going to be more and more frequent. That doesn't mean we should all hang our camera's up for the winter though, far from it

Nice.... I also prefer overcast conditions for Deer... I like the layers here and the composition is fine, any closer and I feel it would be a touch cramped.
