From Saturday's outing to Silver Falls. I wasn't too inspired today and my first browse through my images confirms that. I've been in a total funk lately (probably from those months I wasn't shooting anything). This is one that I felt okay with. It was tough getting a good DOF and sharp focus because of a slight breeze, but I thought this turned out ok enough to share.

Ryan,
This is an excellent comp. It's sharp and the color is outstanding. I had the same idea but my leaf was orange or yellow.

Great detail and contrast Ryan. Nicely done. I'd like to see just a tad more depth of field on that red leaf to bring the bottom of it focus. Definitely hard to do with a breeze though.

Ryan, I like this a lot. The detail and color combo are excellent.
Super, I have one also but the leaf is pale yellow gray and not up to this guality.

I know what you mean about a slump - I am in the biggest slump and no matter what I do I cant get out of it - But I really like this image and think it works - it was nice meeting you and look forward to more outings in the future

Great combo Ryan. I like the comp alot. Did you use a flash?

Jeremy, I didn't use a flash for this. There was some nice filtered light coming through the branches a little later in the day before we had lunch.

Ryan,
This is nice. It has a great feel to it. I personally would have preferred a little greater dof, getting everything in sharp focus. This is also a prime candidate for a carry along spray bottle. To have the leaf wet but not the fern gives away that it was placed. Not that too many people care though...
Actually, it wasn't placed, I think the leaf held the water better than the fern, but it was where it fell. I found another one with a greater DOF. I hurried to get something posted instead of finding the best one.

Ahhh...cool. I've done that many times.

KEEP SHOOTING. Go out & if you can't get inspired, just do technique. Do wierd stuff. More outings. If all that fails, I'll show you a favorite spot next weekend.
