From the Silver Falls outing
Thanks everybody for attending, It was nice to see everyone. I think we had a good turnout and the conditions were excellent. This was taken of a pool that was swirling. Leaves and foam bubbles were making the swirls. I worked this pool for about 2 hours. The compression doesn't do this any favors. The full size nef is full of sharp detail. D2x, 12-23 dx, 30 sec, f 5.6, poloarizer and a 6 stop nd filter.

Aww man, I was looking for exactly this kind of pool to try this. I guess I missed it. I like everything about this. I might want a little more bedrock showing at bottom center though. Very nice capture and great to see you again.

Erik, good to see you again today. I enjoyed stopping by and talking with you while you worked this site. This comp is very cool.

Thanks guys,
Tim, I enjoyed it also. I would like to see what you came up with at this spot. I have so many different versions of this I can't make up my mind which I like best.

Eric,
This is an inpressive image. I really enjoy the swirl action. Did you happen to get one with a tad more room at the bottom to avoid the pool almost intersecting the bottom of the frame? (minor nit)

Why did you shoot F5.6? Couldn't you stop down so and use less ND filter?

Phil,
Thanks. I do have some with more room but the pool doesn't have the swirling action that I liked. I only own the 6x nd filter. I have a bunch of grads but not the straight ND. This particular lens has good dof when it's at it's widest even at this f stop. :wavey:

I would be tempted on sandwiching the two images together; using the very bottom of the one image with more room at the bottom and this image for the swirl.

I hear you on the 6ND

Erik, this is Great. That idea flashed through my head for a 1/2 sec. but I didn't act on it. It wasnt at this spot but I should have tried it. :jump:

Wow, Erik, this is an imrpessive rendition of flowing water. Love the leaf in the middle of the swirling pool. Love everything about it, actually.

Sounds like all of you had a great time. Happy for you. Must've been great to meet everyone in personÉ
