Red Velvet Mite?
I was out taking a few pictures today and ran across this little (and I do mean LITTLE!) guy running around on a bit of moss. It was moving pretty quickly (at least on its scale) and I found it a difficult subject to photograph (and I know I didn't get the focus quite right). I think it's a red velvet mite, though I'm not entirely sure.

Canon 20D
ISO 800
100mm Macro + 25mm extension tube
f3.2 for 1/125 of a second.

Thanks for looking!

Tim, I appreciate the difficult shooting conditions you found with this subject and I'm impressed that you noticed the mite at all, great job. Focus aside, the capture give one an idea of how they move throughout the environment and for that reason this is an enlightening photo for me. Thanks for posting! :wavey:

Man, that's a small critter! Not one of my favorites of yours, but you did a great job under what I'm sure was a difficult situation to photograph. Nice work!
