Fall Colors from Saturday October 21, 2006
Tim Ernst's color updates and photos inspired me to get up and leave home at 4:30am yesterday to take a few shots. Thanks Tim, for all the information on your website! It really helps when you have to make a 2 hour plus drive.

I arrived at Falling Water Falls at about 6:45am ready to shoot and the conditions were pretty good. The above shot was one of the first I got. I had to work pretty fast to beat the sun, but I got a few decent shots.

I headed to Richland Creek Campground and took a few more shots and then headed north on Highway 7 and west on Highway 16. I then headed north on 21 to Boxley Valley. The colors were good there but it was too sunny so I just scouted around and looked at the great scenery.

The best color I saw yesterday was in the Richland Creek area, but it is changing quickly all around the Buffalo watershed.

Here is a link to few more shots I got yesterday.

Nice shot Tom. Very rich, saturated colors and I like the comp you chose. Too bad about the rightmost fg branch, this would have been even better had it not been present. I sure wish I had scenery around here like this! Thanks for sharing!

Tom: You have some really great photos in your gallery - some better than you've posted here (at least in my opnion). You've got great color and water - the best the Ozarks have to offer! Nice job!

I was trying something a little "out of the box" by placing the branch between the two streams of water. I was not sure how it would work. I agree with you Wayne, if the far right branch was not there it would have worked better.

I did find a neat little drainage just south of Falling Water Falls. It crosses the road just below the falls and has three really nice waterfalls in the short distance to Falling Water Creek. It should be nice in the winter for ice and water shots. Check it out if you are in the area.

Thanks for the comments Wayne and Tim.

I've not had much time to comment lately - been getting ready to do the arts and crafts gig last weekend...

All your shots are just great Tom! I'd be proud to hang any of them in my home. Thanks for posting.

BTW, the place you mentioned just below the falls is also home to a nice community of wild azaleas. This whole area is just heaven for photographers :jump:
