Our Environmental Photojournalism gallery is now online!
If you have any photos that are intended to depict man's influence on nature - for better or for worse - we invite you to post them.
Like all of the other galleries and forums, the new EPJ gallery can be accessed via the "select forum" drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the page, via the Forum Index or via the Forums and Galleries index page.
We look forward to your participation in the new gallery!

Good selection of images already posted to the EPJ gallery, Jim!
I hope the gallery can become a resource to anyone needing help with photos they intend to use in support of causes important to them. In my experience these can be documentary as well as stock, and can illustrate both problems and solutions.
My goal in moderating will be to help you get the most "bang for your buck" in photos of issues that concern you, rather than debates about what is or is not an environmental issue, to help you do the best job possible with your issues as all of us learn a little more about issues around the country and world. Debates along those lines belong in the Hot Topics forum.
This will work best if comments and reactions aren't "hit and run." By that I mean that photo posters should check back on the reviews and react to them, answering any questions that reviewers post along the way. By the same token, if you post a review, check back and see what the photographer has to say.
Obviously I'm committed that the EPJ Gallery will be most useful if it can result in meaningful dialog. That's my goal, and I hope others share it.

Hank, well said! I have taken the liberty of using your post as a "moderators' statement" in the new gallery.
Thanks again for your help with this important new gallery!
Yes, it is an excellent idea. These are not the kind of photographs I make, but I often admire them. For example, I greatly admire Mary's buck in the muck.
I look forward to the photos, as well as the reviews.

Jim, I think this is probably the best gallery you have ever launched on NPN. It can speak volumes on how we all really interact with Nature. I'm not so sure about the moderator you have chosen, you bring in a guy with "zero" experience, is boring, and doesn't give very good advice!
Glad you feel that way about the gallery Dave, and I look forward to your reviews and photos. You have a lot to contribute on both counts.
Anyone who's not visited the EPJ Gallery should come on over and have a look. There's already some great photography appearing, and most important to me, thoughful conversation.
I'm looking forward to learning more about environmental issues around the country and how photographers are contributing to solutions!
