Bradgate Stag
D2x, 300-800 @ 700mm, f5.6 1/250 @ ISO800, manual, noise ninja.
Even though I'm only 30 mins from the park I last went to Bradgate probably 4 or 5 years ago. I was very much put off by joggers and dog walkers compromising my highly developed stalking skills  I'm much happier sitting in my own camouflaged world in the middle of nowhere.
However in my quest to find shooting locations within a reasonable striking distance of home I felt I'd try again. The day was pretty dark and dull with the action taking place a ways back mostly beneath a tree canopy in reach of my lens but far too dark for anything sensible. This fellow was fighting hard to stay awake but was at least in what little light there was. Not a great shot, or a creative one by any stretch of the imagination but the eye is lit, the colours are nice and there's decent detail in the antlers. If only he'd crushed the fern to the right of his face.
Glad I went though as I met a few other photographers, one of which was Brian Phipps who I believe frequents this board, so it was good to put a face to the name. I hope to return next weekend for another go.
