North Falls and The Leaf
I walked around for a while with this leaf I found Saturday. I finally found a composition that I liked and here it is.

25mm, 3.2s at f/8

Comments appreciated.

PS - By the way, another complaint about the 200K size limit. Even saved at 185K with the "Save As" in Photoshop CS2 (OSX), it won't load here. The added EXIF data makes this site think it's bigger than it really is. I have to cancel my resize, sharpen, save action and use "Save for Web" which strips EXIF data to make it save so it can be uploaded.

eh...more DOF please. I like the low angle though. I might even try to darken the forground a bit and lighten the rocks around the waterfall.

I agree with Jeremy. I would like to see the falls in focus. The placement of the leaf is perfect.

Guess I'll have to wait till fall next year and go do the shot again

Thanks for your honest feedback.

No complaints about DOF, the hazy falls in background emphasizes the feeling of flat space receding back from the leaf. Lovely image as it is IMHO.

Okay, I'll take both sides. DOF could go either way and make the photo say something more. But DOF needs to be either quite a bit less or quite a bit more with this shot. As it is here, it's right in that uncomfortable region where one's eye doesn't know what to do with it except wince a little. I struggle with getting the "right" DOF, too; a lot of mine end up this way and go in the trash, so DOF is easier said than done, sometimes, right? :frown:
The comp is great and well worth another try next year.

I was limited to a max of f/4.0 and didn't try that but next year I'll try this with my macro lens. Thanks for all the comments. Amazing how many ways to see an image there are....
