Hi John I'am in sunny Blackpool, the ibis is about ten miles away at pilling lane end, its been around for about three weeks on and off there is also a snow bunting which I might go back for tomorrow, a couple of thousand golden plover, thousands of pink footed geese, a few Whooper-swans and a few red leg Partridge.

Phillip.

Ah the tropics of Blackpool-global warming maybe not such a bad thing :toast:

Well bugger me!........(actually, maybe not!). This would be the last thing I'd expect to see at Pilling, nice one.

Looks to have good detail in the dark plumage (on my uncalibrated laptop). Only criticism would be the bright water running through the frame. Having said that, I recognise that it's not always possible to move position and avoid such things.

I think this is the long staying bird that frequented the Exe estuary most of last winter, or is it two winters ago now! - a bit like "Sammy" the black winged stilt at Titchwell (before its demise this year), a vagrant that seems to have settled in the UK.

I was surprised not to see Bill Oddie oggling it on Autumn watch as it was at Martin Mere whilst they were broadcasting!

Nice one Phillip - you certainly seem to be turning up a wide variety of species lately and all beautifully photographed!

Hi Phillip

Nice one, I thought you had been abroad on your holidays for a moment when I opened this post. Nice to see the Ibis saved you some money and visited you instead.

cheers
