Moonset over Supai Group, Colorado River campsite, Marble Canyon.
I like the simplicity of this composition. Just considered it a "grab" shot on the way to dinner, but I'm beginning to like it more. What do you think?

I like this shot. I really like the comp. Very nice.

Geesh, I love it and I not so love it. the comp is great - I just do not like shots with such a high contrast - but that is just me - and I'm somewhat distracted by the World Series

I like it a lot too! Very graphic composition, and great balance. Just goes to show that "grab shots" made by a trained eye can have dramatic impact...

I like the comp a lot. I would suggest darkening the red wall and the sky. I am puzzled by the bright halo around the dark FG. Thanks for posting,

I like it a lot! Very dramatic. Having spent a few nights on the beach in Marble Canyon (pre-photography days) this makes me want to go back.

I like it too.
How would this look in B&W?

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.
... I just do not like shots with such a high contrast...
Ken, that is my normal reaction and I'd try to blend multiple exposures to get some detail in the shadows. However, I thought leaving the foreground ridge as a silhouette added to the graphic nature of this image. When I get a little more time, I'll see if the shadows have anything worth rescuing.

Momo, that's probably the result of the small amount of global PS shadow/highlight recovery. It doesn't show up at all in the original file or 12"x18" print. So, definitely an "enhancement" of the JPG compression.
...How would this look in B&W?...
Chuck, I prefer B&W for images with more textural detail.... but I'll take a look.

Grab shot or not, this is excellent. I like the strong graphic quality of it.

Great 'grab' shot. I like it. You've got some dust spots to the left of the moon.
