Hi All
I spent the recent wet and overcast weekend catching up with filing and archiving my photographs from this summer. Good news is everything is sorted and my PC hard disc is now devoid of RAW files and I have some free disc space again.
To celebrate this occasion, and because I haven't managed much nature photography recently, here is a shot from one of my summer evenings at Clattinger Farm Nature Reserve near Swindon.
Canon 5D, 180mm f3.5 L, ISO 250, f8, 1/200th, tripod, white reflector used to bounce light back into the underside of the butterfly. A bit breezy at the time so kept the shutter speed reasonably high.
cheers
Sean

It's a different shooting angle and sharp too but the DOF on the upper wing is a distraction for me.
Fraid I have to agree with John here, more DoF to bring the upper right of the wing in would have been nice, perhaps you could have upped the ISO, my work 5D stays very clean even up to 800.
Good to here you have caught up with all that filing... reminds me I must do mine sometime soon.
Hi Sean,
Your level of image editing/filing organization is something I can only aspire too.Wish I was half as much up to date as you are
Great use of the reflector and I really like the ultra low shooting angle here, the warm light and graduated background is nice too.
The out of focus seed head and wing tips are a shame, but I guess you'd be fighting a losing battle trying to get more of the subject sharp, especially given the tricky conditions at the time.

Lovely colours and really sharp head, shame about the DOF.
Best wishes
Phil
