Mt Adams from Hood River
I've been wanting to take this photo for a couple of years now. I've checked all the spots I could find in Hood River but I figured the only place to get the comp I wanted was from the roof of the Hospital. This is the cool part of Hood River, I simply called over to the hospital, introduced myself as Mark Hudon from Hood River Coffee Co. and asked if I could get on the roof to take a photo. The head of maintenance told me to come over any time.

I needed to make a Mt Adams Blend label for the Coffee Co. and today the scene looked nice. I went over there after dropping Ellen off at school (right down the street), got up on the roof and took a few shots, came back to the Coffee Co., downloaded the photo, made the label, printed it on our label printer and it's going out the door today on coffee orders.

And now, the label.

Mark, this will be great on a label. Looks like you simplified the detail. Or, maybe that's the jpeg compression. Either way, I think it works well for what you intended.

Very cool. The label looks great. I like the way you designed the label integrating the scene and the text and graphics.

Nice work on the graphics and the photography. You saved yourself some money doing it your self. Just a suggestion for the label. Why don't you have the steam coming out the top of the mountain instead of the cup?

Great execution on an executive level

No big meetings to make the plan - just go and shoot it !!

I like it.

I wish you could have saved the foreground, its a really well done FG IMHO.

The beauty of this is also that if Peggy decides that she doesn't like part of it, I can get right on it and it's a done deal. No sending it out to a designer, getting the proofs back, sending them back, (and spending money every step of the way) ,etc...

We have a really cool label printer so we can print only as many as we need right when we need them. It also gives us the ability to make personal labels. We could do i.e., "The Mike Dawson Birthday Blend" with a lovely photo of him on it.

A good shooting location for a photo of the BNSF crossing the White Salmon River! :  I don't suppose they would let just anyone up there though.
