Another new hotspot has been uploaded - the Beartooth Mountains in Montana. This one is by yours truly. One of my first outings with a 'real' camera was to the Beartooth Mountains on the Montana/Wyoming border. In case it's not obvious when you view the images, I was certain that the key to good photography back then was unfettered use of polarizers and red filters for b&w.

Wow, really nice Rick. My wife and I did a Red Lodge to Cooke City backpack one summer (I think it was 8 or 9 days?) across the Beartooths, I need to find those old Kodachrome 25s to see if I have any that match some of your stunning images (probably not!)

Great stuff Rick :toast:

I love the shot of the clouds with *waves* in them. I have never seen anything like that. Are you sure that is not PS'd

Boy Swamp Lake sure *looks* nicer than it sounds that for sure!

Thanks for all your hard work.

Thanks for sharing. Too bad that place is far away from here.

Great write-up Rick.
The Beartooths are among my favorite mountain ranges. I first fell in love with them back in 1973 when I attended geology fieldcamp at YBRA outside of Red Lodge.

Thanks everyone!

Steve - I figured you must have studied out there at some point. It seems like 90% of the vehicles out there are university geology vans! Next time there's a get-together, maybe we can discuss the Heart Mountain anomaly.

Thanks, D.! I'll post a larger version of that later tonight or early tomorrow. Having some problems with the events page that are keeping me busy at the moment....

Here it is. Not a great scan. This was from back in '97 or '98, and it may be a direct scan of a print. It should look a lot better in person!

Very nice images! I would love to head down that way sometime.
