Another view of McCord Creek Falls
Here's another view of the falls. I wanted more perspective compression and detail than I'd get with my WA zoom, so I used the tele zoom at 73mm and stitched together four horizontal shots--then ended up cropping out the whole left half of the resulting file. 2 second exposure to let the water blur enough from this distance.

Hope you enjoy it!

good decision on the crop Mike. I like the way the image flows, and how the yellow leaves at the top provide additional depth.

My eye wants a little more at the bottom, but that's just a minor nit.

I really like this as well. This might seem wacky, but with the lack of space in the bottom, sometimes a good alt. decision is to crop the bottom out - let people imagine where it ends up instead of showing it. If you crop just above the bush on the RHS, it has great flowing lines and I focus more on the very interesting things the water is doing in the upper half of the falls that I didn't even notice before.

Just a thought - but I love this shot !

wow...this Image I really love! nice capture - perfectly done. The best part is at 40ish megapixles it will make for a very high detailed print =) About the cropping, I like both the way you have it as well as what John suggested. Johns suggestion I think will make for a more asthetically pleasing print, however sometimes I cant stand not knowing where a waterfall is going in an image...it feels cut off.

Thanks, good suggestions. Cropping the bottom will give it close to a 1:2 ratio, so I could print it easiliy from Costco. Lesson learned for next time is to take more photos for the pano than you think you'll need! There is a lot of brush there, but I'm sure I could have gotten another inch or of space at the bottom.

I'd check it out soon. If you go, look for a small goat trail to the left of the trail once you near the falls--there are a couple of ledges down near trees that give semi-unobstructed views of the falls.

I think this works well as a portrait style photograph of the falls. But it isn't one that tells much of a story about the context of the falls, the weather, the mood of the day, etc, because of the tight crop.
