I'm mostly into bird photography and to process my images (taken in RAW format, Canon 20D) I use photoshop CS1. There is one thing really bothering me and I hope someone here can help me!
To make the photo ready for the internet I do the usual processing (arrange exposure, shadows, contrast etc in Adobe RGB). Then I assign the photo to profile sRGB. Doing that the photo looses a bit of colours so I push the saturation up to 20. Photo looks good in photoshop but when I look at it outside photoshop (whether it has been saved by using "Save as.." or "Save for web.." and with ICC profile) it is completely different with a lot more magenta in it - looks the same on the internet (firefox and i.explorer), the explore browser in the computer or irfanview (cheap image software). All wrong colours (strong magenta) but if opened again in photoshop then it is normal.
Does anyone know how to fix this or what is making the problem?
I had a similar problem with CS2. I would work a scanned image in PS and then when I converted to sRGB and 'Saved for the Web' the color was off and contrast was off. It turned out that when I installed CS2, it didn't 'see' my custom monitor profile (for some reason). So, I made sure that Adobe Gamma didn't load at startup, and I then recalibrated my monitor. Voila! Problem fixed.
Thanks Preston. However I already have turned off Adobe Gamma last spring when I calibrated my screen with Spyder. Do you know if I have to make changes somewhere in PS preferences?
