A Wiseman's view tribute to Alice.S. 10/29/06
There is a story behind this and the expression she had when I looked up at her from one of the small ledges below the overlook.
I hope everyone had a good time this weekend and season.
We were both shooting in different places, and I looked around to see where Leann was, and she was gone. Certainly she didn't fall off the cliff! .... I found her perched precariously on this ledge!

It was also that day that I noticed how the sun pours over into Linville Gorge and illuminates one side making the s shape.
Is Leanne one of those cliff-hanging daredevils? Nice one, Leanne. I also like the S-shape of the illuminated trees

Noo noo noo I'm really not coordinated enough for cliff hanging stuff. It was more along the lines of slowly crouching and scooting from ledge to ledge on the hillside.

Galen Rowell reincarnated as Leann? That is one freaky view. I'm scared of heights so I'd probably pass on this if I were there. in Sequoia NP in California six years ago I was crawling on this trail to a waterfall along the side of the granite wall because i was too scared of what was on the other side of the trail.

Hey Richard W,
Thanks for sharing that. We all have "something" that psyches us out. Sometimes water freaks me out. Dark water where you can't see whats going on,clear water when you can see, really really deep water -the list goes on and on.The worst is when on a tour boat and they stop at a spot and announce"we have yet to get a complete measure of how deep this spot is"-my knees start shaking. My imagination or perception is the catalyst and I just don't linger on that train of thought long enough to get carried away, swept away, washed away.I have to go now

with sweaty palms the other day standing a few hundred feet from a cliff at Island in the Sky. refusal to walk out onto Mather Point in the Grand Canyon. sweaty hands while in the PASSENGEr seat going to Kings Canyon NP. refusal to go on roller coasters that go upside down. yelling at my mother for standing near the cliff at Inspiration Point in Channel Islands NP. the list goes on and on.
simply put, I prefer to be on the bottom looking up.

Did I mention I am paranoid about bears also? Puts my count at 2-beat that!
A man I work with also has fear of heights and sometimes someone has walk up to the 3rd floor, then climb an outside ladder and then another ladder to platform putting you on the tippy top of the building.Luckily it is great lookout spot for deer, turkeys and hawks

I've never seen a wild bear believe it or not.
