This was taken on the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie River last Saturday on a outing Nancy & I did along with Sean Watson. I liked the varied textures of this scene. Please let me know how you like this.

Thanks for looking!!

Not sure what to say, I believe it probably looked better in person

How did you pull this off?? You really did capture the look and feel of texture. And pattern. And color. And design. And I am not put off by the "cluttered mess" that happens when I try this (a few humdred or so in the trash!). I also like it as a fine art abstraction.

I was thinking the same thing. This shouldn't have worked. Especially with the sky peeking through way in the back. But it's a smashing success. I'll bet this only looks better the bigger it gets... :toast:

Awesome image Rick. I like this style of image and feel you composed it well. You keep indicating the Middle Fork of the Snoqualmie. That is a large area, mind narrowing it down a bit?

PS Liked your portfolio from this area as well. As a coherent body of work, IMO I would eliminate the sunset water image.

Pretty nice, Rick, I really like it.

Thanks folks for the kind responses!!

John this goes to show that no matter how much I vainly try to do otherwise I just can't please all the people all the time and that's just fine by me. Despite what my ego says...DOH!! So I appreciate your honest opinion!!

Jim this was shot next to the bridge that takes cars over the river maybe 3 miles in or so... This tree is right next to the bridge on the northwest corner of the bridge. Very convenient wouldn't ya say? The interesting thing is I never really noticed it until this day and Nancy & I drive the Middle Fork a lot!! This proves that repeat visits to the same location can have valued returns!!

Rick,
What road?
Posted by Rick Lamb on November 2, 2006 at 2:30 PM
The main road in - NF-56

According to Google Earth approximately:

LAT
47.29.43.17 N
LONG
121.38.22.52 W

It's the first bridge after the road leaves asphalt.

Go East on I-90 and take the Exit for Ken's Truck stop - 468th AVE SE. Turn left under the freeway. Go about 3/4 mile and turn right on SE Middle Fork Road. At the Y intersection bear left and continue on SE Middle Fork Road until you get to the stop sign. At the stop sign turn left and follow NF-56 until you get to the first concrete bridge. That's where the tree is.

Enjoy!!

Rick,
This one came together nicely. The moss (or lichen I think) hanging really draws me into this. Well done!
