Since I shoot primarily landscape, I took the strap off my 5D. It gets in the way when putting the camera on a ballhead and is a general nuisance. On occasion, I shoot people and dogs hand-held and need a strap. Anybody know of a good camera strap that goes on and off easily and quickly (especially quickly)? The Canon straps are not all suited to rapid changes.

You may want to look at the Lowepro straps.

I'm especially fond of the Tamrac N-45 straps for the reason you cite: Quick snaps for removing or restoring the strap. This model has the extra advantage of being long- 50". I like that so I can slip both my head and one arm through the strap both for security and to keep the weight from resting on my neck. In use this allows me to rest the camera on my hip where I can stop swing simply by pressing my elbow against my side or slide it around behind me for narrow spaces. Once you have tried a longer strap, you'll never go back to the miserable short ones that are all the fasion today.

You may want to check out the camera strap at Magellan's website. It's a quick release, long, and it's anti theft in the respect that wires are indside the strap so the thief can't cut your strap and run. (Happens often to tourists)

The most comfortable camera strap we use is the OP/TECH USA. The padding is backed with rubber bumps so it will not slip. And, it can be quickly disconnected.

I have LowePro straps on all of my cameras and super-telephoto lenses. They are simply the most comfortable camera strap I have found and are easy to put on/take off.

Domke also makes a nice strap with a quick release. They used to come standard on Canon pro film cameras.
