Falling Water Falls on Halloween
I switched my day off this week because of the weather. Friday was calling for lots of sun, and since I'd had plenty this year, I went for an overcast morning after a night of rain. I think I made a good decision. Most of the area had lost its cover, but the isolated sopts with color were just great. And the mountaintops are absolutely on fire. The areas around Marshall and Clinton are absolutely breathtaking. Here's one of my many shots from Falling Water Falls. Enjoy!

I actually find it more difficult to shoot when there is SO MUCH color around like we are having right now - my goodness some areas are nearly 100% peaked with brilliant color from top to bottom - something that doesn't happen very often. I spent 12 hours out shooting today and didn't come back with too much - there was just TOO much to shoot! It is better to have a smaller area with good subjects and not the entire forest before you, that way you can concentrate and come up with a great composition like the one above. Here's hoping the rest of fall in Arkansas won't be quite so impressive!

Beautiful, Dominic! I like this angle - the leaves give a lot of depth to the scene. Nice work!

I can really relate to Tim's comment - I went by here Saturday mid-morning and had plans to return later in the afternoon when the light was better. What caught my attention was a single gum tree below the falls whose colors ranged from green to yellow to orange to red to dark purple. I'm curious as to what it looked like today (this might even be the tree here)...I never made it back because there was so much else to shoot around the Ponca area.

Well that cuts it! I've had enough of all these beautiful waterfall and color shots from Arkansas. I'm headed to the mountains of Colorado to sulk ... but not before I enjoy this photo for awhile longer.

Beautiful Dominic! :wavey:

Great shot Dominic! The whole scene looks good, but he leaves in the foreground really make this shot great.
