Hi All

I have just spotted that there is a program about photographer Martyn Colbeck on BBC2 this evening. Martyn Colbeck is the guy who does the arty black and white elephant images.

Natural World at 8pm BBC2.

Not often nature photography gets featured on prime time telly so I thought I would mention it here as it might be of interest to forum members.

cheers

That program was fantastic :toast:

Heart warming stories of the elephants, was very interesting  .

His B & W shots of the 2 bulls fighting were awesome :toast: (as were all of his shots, and filming).

Great Program. Thanks for the tip. :toast:

I wonder how he decided when to film, and when to shoot stills?

An excellent point! I'd imagine/guess that the filming took priority particularly when there was an oppurtunity to record new behaviour that he didn't already have on tape, and the photography may have mainly been done on those quieter moments and during times when the behaviour had already been recorded in depth.

Although saying that he mentioned there was only two serious fights that he witnessed in 15 years,so I'd love to know what he did in those situations, regarding video or stills.

Very enjoyable and interesting program. I remember seeing some of Martyn's black and white photographs in the WPOY competition and they looked fantastic at the NHM, inspirational stuff.

cheers

Martyn is with the same agent as me and the agent said to me that when he walked in and put his slides on the table they signed him straight away as they had never seen anything like it,I see he does stuff for big cat diary etc for the beeb-would like to know how you can leave the uk and think right i am going to spend the next 15 years with elephants-great programme and hope there will be more :toast:

He was in a unique position when he upped sticks and went out to Amboseli. Lucky guy to be able to spend 15 years in the company of Elephants.

Very interesting behavior captured on film too. Brilliant program by BBC2
