Well, not the paper is not loading. The power button is flashing and paper feed button is red. This is may be due to using photo rag since yesterday which is quite thick paper. Epson trouble shooter says: contact Epson.
Please help.

I just read somewhere on the internet about manual feeding from the back side. Automatic tray wont work with 308gsm Photorag. Is that correct?

Yeah, you should use the direct feed path from the rear of the printer. Keeping the paper straight can be a challenge so do it carefully.

Strange. It worked yesterday alright with auto-feed. I have decided to print on Epson premium semigloss or Hahn.Fineart pearl. I'm sure am doing some simple mistake. Thanks for the reply.

Hi Prashant,

I use Epsons Velvet Fine Art paper in my 2200 and sometimes forget to load it from the back. It will feed into the automatic feeder at times but usually does not work.

When I first started using the VFA paper I didn't realize that it needed to be feed throught the back. I used the automatic sheet feeder for a couple of weeks and it worked about half the time -- but it was a battle. Finally I RTFM (Read the freakin' Manual) and realized how to load the paper!

Cheers,
Frank

Also note that with some thick papers you can actually damage the paper surface if you try to run it through the standard roller feeder.

Yes, I knew this but never really used a paper this thick.
Thanks.

Guy,
I just spoke to the local 'Hahnemühle' distributor and he said the black point compensation should not be checked. http://www.photolux.de/deutsch/produkte_menu08_startseite.htm
It is in German but hopefully you can make out. Scroll down and read this:
"Die Einstellungen erreichen Sie über den Weg "Drucken mit Vorschau":
Quell-Farbraum: Dokument (oder Adobe RGB 1998), Profil: wie gewünscht, Rendering-Intent: Perzeptiv oder Relativ farbmetrisch, je nach eigenem Geschmack, Schwarzpunkt-Kompensation: Aus."
Schwarzpunkt-Kompensation: Aus->Black point compensation OFF. Hmm, I have always checked the black point compensation. Most of the books I have suggest to do the same (Grey, hyens etc). I sent him a screenshot of what setting am using and he said turn the compensation off (do not tick it).

What do you say?

The reason I decided to stick to 'tried and tested' papers is time is running out. I need to prepare it by Saturday.
