Upper Rush Creek
Anyone know what all those red leaves are?

No, but that is some great eye-poppin' color.

Very nice photo, John, I really like the digonal composition and the tones in the water.

The bright yellow flowers in the foreground are green rabbit bush. The red leaves are a variety of dogwood.

Very nice John. Colors are great, and I just knew Preston would update us on the foliage types. He is great to be around for many reasons, a real wizard on the plant world by type too. :wavey:

I exposed several sheets in the afternoon at that colorful spot again this year as I have several times in the past. Have quite a few fairly nice LF wide images like this but not anything great enough to drum scan and process yet. But next year have a plan to use my 300mm. Yellow hued trees are Fremont cottonwood, with a few yellow and green hued quaking aspen at right, and as Preston noted red hued creek dogwood. The dogwood are one of two Sierra species with Pacific dogwood found at shady understory mid elevations on the west Sierra slopes. ...David
