Hi all

I've redesigned my website and would appreciate comments and feedback a lot. Be it on the photography or the web design part, please let me know what you think.

Just a quick first thought Basil....I don't see your name on the front page anywhere! I think it's pretty important to know right off the bat whose site I'm looking at. It seems the only place your name can be seen is by the copyright info. I would suggest making it more prominent than that. I like the simplicity of the overall design a lot.

Very nice work, Basil. I'm intrigued by your vision. I expected a lot of verdant green scenes and lofty white peaks from Switzerland but was surprised to find almost no green and a lot of warmer earth tones in your work.

Beautiful site. I love the intro page and the galleries are easy to navigate. I agreee with Mary though, I would like to see a page with some into about you, as well as your name more prominently displayed. For those that know you that may not matter. But for people who hit on your site by searching I think it's extremely important.

Thanks for your comments. I did not put my name in bold, big letters onto the frontpage because I thought that might look a bit big-headed to the people who know me (which I guess are 99 % of the people that visit the page). I will try to find a solution to that.

Thanks for the many responses!

Basil

UPDATE: New front page online. Let me know what you think.

From looking through your images, I think your strongest work and galleries are by far the flora and fauna. Strong color and compositions.

I might want to edit some of the landscape galleries a bit. Lanzarote in particular, but the others as well, seems to have a fair number of images which appear to be similar to each other. The individual images are all pretty good individually, but as a group, some of them get lost with each other.

Hmm, working back through the website, the front page four images are similar, but they seem to work because of their size and the grouping. That might be the way to go - group the similars and increase the size a bit so image detail isn't lost in the thumbnail galleries.

And to be really picky, "seing" on the front page probably should be spelled "seeing". I am still trying to work through all of the typos on my website, so I can understand how that happens.

I hope that helps and doesn't sound too negative. I do like your images up on it :toast:

You need "next" and "prev" buttons/links when viewing individual images in each gallery. I hate having to go "back" to the index page to see the next image.

Your image sizes are inconsistent.

I'm not fond of the white background. I prefer gray or another neutral or dark background so the images stand out.

Nice images.

Yes, the older ones are smaller. I think I'll fix this in a future upgrade. Thanks for your comments!
