Taken at Yarner Wood this morning. Sun was right in front of the lens and didn't have an option to move around. Haven't posted or been out with my camera for a couple of months now I think due to various things, so although this isn't a great shot of a rare bird, it's all I've got Should have stopped down a bit for more depth of field Thought i'd post it anyway!
Comments appreciated

Its quality not rarity that counts
I very different view of this charming little bird , the clarity and lighting are exceptional
A bit more DOF may have helped but it's still a nice image. Very sharp.

Excellent lighting. Backlit photography is my favourite. DOF not really a problem IMHO.
Beautiful image.

I think the DOF is fine as it's sharp around the eye and head. Backlighting is nice though it's given you a cool feel to the shot but that could be altered easily in CS2 if you desired. Very nice image.
Very nice, sharp where it matters, perch is a bit big for my taste, and it looks like it could do with a touch of warming up, not much mind...

Hi Graeme
Lovely shot, nicely framed and lit. Super shot, only comment would be the feather detail is a bit 'mushy' on the back of the body. Not sure what is causing this (cropping, noise reduction, sharpening, etc). Minor issue though, the overall image works very well.
cheers

Sean, I don't know why exactly, but you're right. I can only think it's due to the fact the lens was wide open, shutter speed was fairly low, some movement may have occurred and it's way off the focal plane which the eye is bang on with. It is cropped about 50% and it has been run through Noise Ninja, but so has the whole image - not selectively. I think a better pose may have helped, with a bit more light and a lot more skills on my part
Thanks for the comments. Will try warming it up a bit- or just burning it
