Hi y'all!

I just purchased and downloaded Adobe CS2 on my new desktop computer (more memory, faster, BIG monitor). When I download RAW images from my microdrive card, I cannot view these as images in Adobe Bridge or in Photoshop. The program simply says that these files are of the incorrect type, or does not recognize them as images at all. I am shooting a Minolta 5D, so the images are .MRW files, but this is supoorted by the latest version of the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in, which supposedly came bundled with CS2. I downloaded the plug-in and installed it anyways, just to be safe, and no luck.....

HELP

TIA

You can check the plugin version by going to the Help menu and selecting "About Plug-In", then "Camera Raw". CS2 is looking for plugins in multiple locations and it's possible it didn't pick up the latest one.

It never hurts to check the Adobe site to make sure that you have the latest version of Camera Raw. Follow the directions and make sure that you place it in the right folder. There are two Plug-In folders on different parts of the drive, so be careful. I made the mistake of using the right Plug-In folder, but I saved the Camera Raw file, as directed, only I save it in that folder under the sub-folder Backup. Use Old, Save, or something else, or, better yet, save it under C:\temp\Save. It seems that Photoshop and Bridge look at the Plug-In folder and then the backup sub-folder gets in the way. I wish you luck. I found CS2 to be even better than CS.
