SD10, Sigma 300-800 @ 800mm, tripod+ wimberley head.
F7.1, 1/800s,ISO400. CS2 10% crop, levels, Focal Blade sharpen.
Spent a very cold morning in a feezing cold north westerly.
I'm not sure if this really works. It looks picilated(sp) on the screen but prints fine.
Comments and advice welcome

I think this works. I like the fact that you have one with the wings up and one with the wings down. I'd probably preffer it with a bit more space all round - for them to fly into and to get all of the splash behind but the tight composition still works.

I think it's a super shot, action shots of ducks on water always look impressive, but you don't always get time to consider your composition especially with Wigeon, Teal and Tufted Duck they're way too fast so to capture this fine image you've done really well
I tried photographing wigeon at Slimbridge but they were way off definatley a 500mm + 1.4x ext shot at slimbridge, I only had my 300mm

Hi Steve
A well caught action shot. Good reactions on your part as when this kind of thing happens you don't have long to compose, focus and click. Only nit is the bank in the background is a bit distracting but a minor point and something you probably didn't have much control over.
cheers

A good well judged action shot. I don't have a problem with the background. Well done!

The only thing that doesn't quite work for me with this shot is the spray in front of the front bird. I would consider cleaning this up so they're flying into clear space.
But hey! everything else is about perfect
