I find myself in need of a little expert advice regarding feeding stations. Although I have the usual back garden bird table, seed and nut feeders all in close proximity to my shed I’ve decided it’s time to branch out a bit…….’no pain no gain’ as the saying goes!

To this end I’ve been investigating potential feeding station locations where I work and have found a few good spots (one of which had some Deer in close proximity this lunchtime). Two of these locations look ideal with a little bit of work. The first is in an open area of woodland on a southeast facing slope. There is Bramble, Oak, Birch, Beech, Pine and a whole raft of other stuff that I can’t name, all of it is quite dense. The second location is similar but one aspect is immediately adjacent to open farmland.

My question is quite straightforward really. Aside from the usual peanut and seed feeders is there any other type of feeder or food that could be used to increase the variety of species visiting the sites?
