Members Page: Keep it. or can it?

Hi All,

The Members page here at CANP is quite out of date. The reason for this state of affairs is two-fold. First, Anil and I (like all of us) are charging around like a bolus of flatus in a phone booth and have limited time for keeping such a page up to date; and second, our active membership appears to change rather frequently, making updates a hit or miss proposition.

The pro is that such a listing, along with a member's location and web url (if they have one) is good info to have available.

So, take a look at the Members page and then answer the questions...

Do you want to keep it? Do we can it?

If you want to keep it, please provide any ideas you might have to make it better.

Thanks for your thoughts on this!

I am confused Preston.
does one just need to be a poster like me to be there
or do they have to be a paying NPN member to be listed?
It appears that there are those listed w/o an NPN#.
If it is for everyone that posts in CANP, paid or not,
then I vote YES.
thanks for making me look there.
I found of member of my FM_NorCal group.
Hi Doug...Crane time :wavey:

In gratitude,

I vote we keep it. Perhaps we could write a couple of scripts that would allow people to submit updated information to a moderator who could look it over and allow it to post to the page if everything looks okay.

I'm a member too and am not on it. Although I don't feel strongly about it one way or another, I think if it's too much work to keep up, it should be abandoned since there's not much point in having a "wrong" list.

I am a member and I am not on it, either. I am sort of in the same camp as John. If it not a major hassle, keep it. If it is too much, delete it.

Appreciate the work you do as moderator, regardless of what you decide. :toast:

Hi All,

Given that all the votes so far have been in the affirmative, we will keep the 'Members' page!

In order for it to be of maximum use, I will need information from those who would like to be included:

Send me an e-mail with "Members List" in the subject line if you want to be on the listing.

Please include the following information:

1. Your Name as you want to appear on the list
2. Please Indicate if you are a paid NPN member (We have to have at least 12 active, paid NPN Members in order to continue the regional group)
3. Your Location
4. Your website address, if you have one
5. Your nature photography area(s) of interest, e.g. Avian, fauna, flora, landscape, etc.
5. Your primary image capture format, e.g. Large Format, Medium Format, 35mm, 35mm Digital.

For those of you who are not paid NPN members, you are officially 'guests' of NPN/CANP, but for our purposes you are considered CANP members. So, yes, we would be pleased to post your information on the 'Members' page.

Once I get a fair number of entries, I will update the page. Thanks for your help with this project, and thank you for your particpation at CANP!
