i use the 1 series canon cameras,, an was wondering if there is any adv or disadv to using the Sd cards as opposed to the CF,, from stand point of speed,, to and fro the camera and computer and reliablity,,,

just curious ??

I don't know about speed comparisons, but when considering SD cards I was told about one potential advantage: They don't use those tiny little pins to engage the camera or card reader along with all those tiny holes in the card itself. Therefore they are less likely to encounter problems from contamination or damage. Haven't bought any yet, but food for thought when choosing between them for rough use.

Hi Kim
I've been using both for some time now (over 2 years) and find there's little to choose between them. With the 1 Series I really like that I can fill one card and switch to the other when the shooting is fast and furious or have one card backup the other for stuff that's critical.

I think technically the SD are slightly faster but in the field I've never noticed the difference. I have about 5 of each (Sandisk Ultra II) and have never had any problems with them in over 60K frames.

I agree with Ed....I use them both too.....it makes the card-switching much faster and it decreases he chance that I miss a shot right in the middle of some cracking action.
