The Watchman at Sunsetm, Zion NP

Fuji Velvia 100
Nikkor 210 f/5.6
Ebony SV45TE

I was in Zion last week with just about every other photographer from every surrounding state. After several dull sunsets and a very photographer-crowded bridge over the Virgin River, I found a nice view of the Watchman without anyone around. Luckily the clouds and sun cooperated that evening.

Thanks for looking.

Rene,

Great take on an oft-photographed icon. I was at the bridge the night you took this, i think it was on the 1st if i remember right. Beautiful light that evening! btw, did you get that shot in the narrows?

That's a beauty, Rene! Love the sky color and clouds.

Nice, Rene. The subtle sunset color and indirect lighting really makes this a magically different view.

I love the composition and colors. It's not very sharp, but I am sure that can be fixed. Thanks for sharing. I miss Zion.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Adam – I went back into the narrows on Thursday, but it was even more overcast than when we met you guys on Tuesday. However, I did manage to get a decent shot. The shot of the Watchman, I believe, I took Friday night. Were you able to get some good shots in Zion?

That's pretty special, Rene. The last touches of light on the grasses is a nice compliment to the dramatic light in the sky.
