I spent several evenings photographing the full moon rise over Sprague Lake in Rocky Mountain National Park this past week while on vacation. For this shot I braved the icy water where the stream entered the mostly frozen lake so I could capture the reflection of the moonbeams on the open water. Thanks for looking.

Nice job Wayne. I like the exposure for a night shot. Thanks for getting your feet wet and cold for us.

Nice job Wayne - what a great place to photograph! While I like the overall comp on this one, there's something that just doesn't seem right with the color of the sky. My mind wants to see a more cobalt blue color, I think, and I kinda wish the reflection was a bit more specular. It looks like there might have been a slight gust of wind that caused a few ripples to form.
Hope you had a great trip, and look forward to seeing more. Thanks for posting!

Ah, your perception is right but you need to think outside the box on this one Bill. I guess I didn't give enough details to set this one up.
This shot was made well after sunset (the sky was dark to the naked eye) and the long exposures gave the sky back it's more natural blue color. The ripples were formed because of the stream discharging into the pond at exactly the point where I was standing.
This was the first time I'd tried to do this and my intent was to capture the moon's reflected sunlight and use it as the only source of light for the series of shots I took. Thanks for the comments and we did have a great time!

I like the fact that you're out shooting after dark - it's kind of neat what you get, and I bet it was a pretty fun thing to do. This is a fascinating area and there are a lot of elements in this image one could play around with. The ice is really interesting (I hesitate to say "cool"), and I like the reflection too. Hope you had a great trip!
