Ravens are my favourite birds, to see and hear them is always a great experience. In Leicestershire a couple of pairs are now breeding which is great news. I took this image at Gigrin Farm the other week, not only is it the best place in Britian to photograph Red Kite it is also brilliant for Ravens. For some reason when I compressed this image it hasn't shown it at its best but at full screen and printed of A3 I love it
Canon EOS 1D MkII, 500mm Lens, F4, 1/2000, ISO Rating 200, Full Frame.
Superb shot danny.
Looks pretty stunning even at this small size,so I can imagine just how good it looks printed big.

I agree with you about Ravens, they are real characters and are highly intelligent. Your image looks absolutely spot on to me Danny, a wonderful capture.
Best wishes

The detail in the blacks are superb Danny. A much undervalued bird shown off very well here.

hi danny, great shot. i love ravens too. they've been getting more and more common down on the isle of wight where i'm from over the last five years or so. i think there are about 3 breeding pairs along the sw coast alone.
if anyone is near there and knows where tennyson downs are, they fly along the cliff regularly at eye level, i'm sure there's some great stuff to be had there, possibility of some white cliff backdrops. one behaviour i noticed is that they play in flight, folding their wings and doing a corkscrew like twist when flying, not sure why but i looks great. do the gigrin ones do this?
regards,
mark.

Great use of light to bring out the details in the bird's plumage. Nice work.

Hi Danny
Good shot. Excellent composition and super light and detail on the Raven. Very tricky to get detail in black birds, even more tricky when they are flying.
cheers
