Plover Pano
Hi to all,
Golden Plovers taken today at RSPB Old Moor
only the second outing with the 500mm

Are the Plovers too small for the pano to work ???

Full frame cropped to pano , Contrast in CS2
Canon 20D , Canon 500mm IS , W/Hv2 , Gitzo 1325

All comments and advice welcome

Regards
Andy

This I like; composition is good and the shooting angle and 500mm make them look stacked up. Are you local to Old Moor? I'm only about 5 miles away.

Just seen you are from Normanton, so only about 4 miles from me. We'll have to meet up sometime. Are you a member of NormyCC?

This works for me.Size of the plovers work just fine.
Big panoramics rarely look good at 720 pixels, printed big is another matter.
Not a nit but just an observation but I'd crop just a fraction off the left hand side just enough to lose the furthest column of birds which will just add the finishing touches to the balance of the composition,IMHO.
Look forward to more.

The difficulty with shots like this is the birds that are cut through at the edges of the frame. It is almost impossible to avoid, but with this in mind, on another occasion, you might look for gaps in the flock or less dense parts of the flock when selecting where to position the edges of the frame. I think I might crop this to avoid having a line of birds tight against the left edge of the image.

Hello Andrew
Good advice from the guys above, but still a very nice image which certainly works OK for me.
Best wishes

It certainly works well, as Phil Shaw says it is always difficult with the chopped birds at the edges.... you have done well here and I bet it looks good larger

Hi Andy

Works for me, I really like it. The edges of the frame are always going to be a minor niggle with this type of image!

Hi

Like it a lot.

I like the image as is but if it were mine I may clone/patch out the edge of frame birds.

Hi Andrew

Nicely seen and taken image, I like it. The pano crop works very well. I don't mind the birds at the edge of the frame.

cheers

Hi John,
No I'm not a member of Normy CC , never got around to joining , and I should really
because it's only a 5 min walk from where I live , I think it's still being held at the Linnett ?

Maybe we can meet up at Old Moor one Sunday ? , Thanks for asking.
