Taken at Pensthorpe on Sunday. I never have quite the same sense of achievement when taking pictures of captive birds/animals but I was quite pleased with this.
As ever comments & crits welcome

Hi Dennis
Your techs in this image look spot on but I would have preferred more room on the right and a lower shooting angle!

Hi Dennis, I agree with Davids comments above, but one thing in particular I like with this shot: When I shoot wild Goldeneyes I always tend to get some blur in the pupil of the eye. Here it's very nice and sharp. Good job

Hello Dennis
Dave has said it all, but still a nice result.
Best wishes

Thanks for your comments - taken on board. I was standing on a wooden bridge that spans one of the lakes but I think with a bit of thought I could have achieved a lower shooting position. I guess I was a bit over zealous with the crop on the right hand side - I think I was trying to get the eye as close to the intersection of thirds as I could and became fixated on that!
As for the eye Helge - hmmmm a wild Goldeneye with a slightly soft eye (and I'm sure with your standards the emphasis would be on the "slightly") or a captive bird with a pin sharp eye...... tough choice LOL
thanks again

A nice study, it's not easy to get good shots of even captive birds, it seems an angle finder would be good to have in such a situation.
Shows the eye superbly but agree with the other comments re crop and viewpoint, if staying with the tightness of this crop the eye should really have been on the left hand intersection so the duck was looking in to the image rather than out. The techs look to be spot on....

Hi Dennis,
I would've gone for the lower angle if possible here and left more room on the right, but that eye is razor sharp.

Hi Dennis
Nice pose and lovely water texture. I too would have tried for a lower shooting angle if possible, no excuses at Pensthorpe.....
cheers

The only excuse I have Sean is that I had totally misjudged the weather and was slowly freezing to death - the biting wind was going straighht through my fleece! I realise this is a very poor excuse for an spiring wildlife photographer and that suffering for one's art is mandatory
Thanks for all the comments and suggestions much appreciated

The nits have been covered, but great detail and exposure looks great.
