Hello Bill I was sent a message from another member on this site that you use a Sony A100. Id appreciate any feedback or to see any images that you have taken with it.

William, check the Flora gallery. Bill posts pictures from it over there all the time. I think any recent pictures that you see will be from it.
In fact, here are all his photos currently on NPN from Bill. Bill Fach Photos

William: Thanks for your interest. I've been very pleased with this camera but must tell you that it is my first Digital SLR. I was a Minolta film shooter for years with a small fortune in Minolta compatible glass. I never pulled the trigger on the Minolta 7D or 5D. I shot digital with a Canon S2 for a little over a year before picking up the A100 this summer.
I am very impressed with the image quality. I was a little surprised when some review sites commented negatively on the image quality. Frankly the images being critiqued were taken with second class lenses and poor post-processing. I've got good glass and know what I'm doing in Photoshop and I find the results to be completely satisfactory.
I am finally getting used to using menus to select various settings but it is nowhere close to being as easy to use as my film Maxxum 7, which IMO was one of the absolute best film bodies on the planet. So far my use of the A100 has been limited primarily to macro and flora work with my 200mm macro. I like the crop factor for those applications and the relatively noise free images at ISO 400. I also like the stabilization feature. I do enjoy scenic wide angle shooting so I don't know how the crop factor is going to cramp my style. My widest lens is a 20mm. I would love to acquire a wide angle digital zoom but $$$ won't allow for the Sony and the Tokina I would like to have isn't available in a Minolta/Sony mount. I'm heading to Colorado in a couple of weeks so I'll find out firsthand about the WA llimits. If you have specific questions feel free to e-mail me and I'll do my best to help out.
Bill:
Thanks for answering. I was just hoping to find someone using the A100 to get some feedback. Although I have other digitals this will be my first DSLR. Bill like you I do alot of macro and flora work, and I appreciated Nathan pointing out your work to me. And thanks for being open to further questions. I'm hoping to get my A100 for xmas or soon thereafter.
