Having been looking at the superb postings for almost a year I have been struggling to improve my own effort. I have plucked up courage to reveal my early offerings any advice would be most welcome.

Taken July 06 Kansas USA late afternoon

Canon 350D 35mm-350mm from the vehicle window hand held.

Thanks

Gorgeous birds these. Composition is good but it would be improved with the bird look slightly more towards the camera rather than away. Highlights look a little hot on the back but if shooting RAW you could tone that down. I might also be tempted to clone out the grasses in the bottom of the pic but otherwise a fine first post. Keep 'em coming

Hi a nice image but it looks like a scissor-tailed flycatcher fork tailed flycatcher has a dark head and mantle.

Phillip.

Welcome to the forum Barry and a fine shot of a great looking species.

I'd also be tempted to clone out those couple of bits of grass,or perhaps crop them out by creating a panoramic format.

Look forward to more. :wavey:

Thank you for making me most welcome, I do apologise for the in correct identification
it should be the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher (Tyrannus forficatus) I'll work on the advice. I have now become a full member so I will be back after my time out.

Hi Barry, nice image of an unusual bird (to me). If the tail was any longer it would need a wideangle
