Taken at Samburu, Kenya - a pair of these hung around the lodge but always seemed to be in the shade of trees which made showing the iridescent plummage to its best difficult. Finally on my last day there one was a bit more obliging and stood in a small patch of sunlight.
Don't remember seeing one of these on the forum before.
A nice shot with the raised foot adding extra interest.
Judging by the shadow and area of dappled light it looks like the light could have been a bit tricky to handle, but you've handled it well, with plenty of detail in that dark plumage.
Ideally would have prefered a little more room in front of, and above the bird, although for web display I guess it pays sometimes to go in a little bit tighter to make the most of the 720 pixels.

An unusual bird for our forum Dennis. Good to see something out of the ordinary. I agree with Justins comments too.

Hi Dennis, very interesting bird. I would give it a bit more room all around
