This was shot a little north of Silver Jack Reservoir. The colors and textures reminded me of a weathered tapestry, so I intentionally kept it muted with regards to saturation and contrast. It comes across to me as more of an abstract than a scenic shot - does it work for you? Yeay, nay?

It works for me, but I like abstract work.

Really works for me, Rick. I enjoy abstract images and this is no exception. The muted color palette and soft light are fantastic. Nice work!

Not my type of photo (I liked Velvia), but besides my opinion, this is a very nice abstract.

I like abstract landscapes, so this works for me. The aspens provide a nice ruler.
The compression certainly appears worse than normal.

Well, sorry to be the naysayer, but it reminds me of abstract art i used to do 20 years ago, and it never worked for me either Too busy, the eye doesnt know where to focus. If you could just use the right hand bottom corner (1/2 of height, 1/4 width) it would work better for me. But then again, the art world consistently glorifies stuff i detest, so watta i know ?

Thanks for the comments guys. Stan, no worries - I'm interested in candid opinions; knowing why someone doesn't care for a particular photograph is equally as useful as knowing why someone else likes it.

I like the colors Rick, but to me it needs to be either a little sharper or maybe a slight gaussian blur to add to the abstract. It's kind of a inbetween for me. As you said, there's a lot of detail lost with the compression so it might look great on the full res shot.
